Note: Parable of the rich young man: Mark 10:17, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, defraud not, honor thy father and mother.
20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
21 “Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.”
Christ did not say to him, "Believe in Me, and Accept me as your Savior". Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf taught, "Salvation cannot be bought by the currency of obedience. It is purchased by the blood of the Son of God. Think we can trade our good works for salvation is like buying a plane ticket and supposing we own the airline."
*What is your dominant or supreme love, the one thing you prize more than anything else? It is that love that defines who we are. Jesus declared, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37. Abraham Loved God more than his son, Isacc.
President Ezra Taft Benson described that change of attitude and deep obedience in this way: “When obedience ceases to be an irritant and becomes our quest, in that moment God will endow us with power.”Apr 19, 2011
Obedience is the first law of heaven, the cornerstone upon which all righteousness and progression rest. It consists in compliance with divine law, in conformity to the mind and will of Deity, in complete subjection to God and his commands.
I got to bed at about 11 PM last night and was up at about 7 AM this morning. I had my personal prayer, showered shaved, and studied until Debbie called. We had prayer and I drove over to Big Springs Assisted Living and picked Dan Lester up. We attended Sacrament Meeting in the Cedartown Branch. Debbie is coving for both of us at Abbington Memorn Center church services in Lehi, UT. We ate breakfast and Max went with me to pick up Brother Dan Lester for Sacrament Meeting at the Cedartown Branch. I took him back to the assisted living home after Sacrament. Max was not feeling well and I took him home. Debbie got home from church and fixed lunch. Later I took their white Hyundai/Genesis automobile and drove to see my 77-year-old first cousin and his wife Elaine in Oxford, Alabama. I had a good visit with them and wanted to see some others. Helen Pruitt another first cousin, 92 years old living in Bremen, Georgia. She did not answer her phone so I did not go by and see her. There were some others also that I will have to visit some other time. I got back to Max and Debbie's. Max and I went for a walk. I sent all the mothers in the family an email; also texted many, and tried calling. I left a message and Beth called me back later. I had my personal prayer and studied scriptures before going to bed about 11 PM.
