Estimate taxes for Georgia and maybe Utah from Matt McCleary, CPA

Debbie was up early, we had prayer, and a team came to clean the windows at about 9 AM.  I worked organizing and cleaning the garage.  I brought the 3 bags of topsoil from the garden in the backyard and stored them inside the garage.  I used duck tape to tape up one of the bags of topsoil that was busted.  I wrapped it in ground cover and left it in the garden to be used by Debbie as she needs it.  I worked on cleaning and organizing the office.  I went to the Legacy Center to lift weights, exercise, and walk for about an hour.  I listen on my cell phone to a health book on maintaining a PH balance in your body.  I got home and sent Matt McCleary, CPA an email asking again for the amount Debbie and I should pay for Georgia, Idaho, and Utah State estimated taxes for 2023 each quarter.  I have not heard anything from him since my visit to his office yesterday.  Taxes are due on the 15th.  I did not hear from him and at about 9:30 PM I sent Dan Truitt a text asking him to send an electronic check to the Georgia Department of Revenue for $2,500 for 2 quarter estimated taxes.  Debbie and I picked up Mirko and Ljubica at the SLC Airport.  Debbie took a picture and sent it to their daughter, Bojana, in Novi Sad, Serbia.  We had a good visit and stopped and dropped off some Idaho potatoes from the farm and games for Ocie and 'Braddock at Pat and Anndalyn's.  They are out of town.  Pat has a business meeting and Anndalyn went with him.  Lindann, Anndalyn's mother, is watching the children while the parents are gone.  When we got him and I took the Jelic's luggage downstairs to their room while Debbe prepared dinner.   We visited and Mirko went to bed.  Ljubica had prayer with Debbie and me.  Debbie worked on getting saving accounts set up for her grandchildren.  We had prayer together and studied scriptures before going to bed.  

Note:   I listened to the Come Follow Me podcast on John 14th lesson by Jared Halverson.  He talked about something we don't hear talked about much in the Church but was taught by Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Volume 3, pages 380-381.  It is about Calling and Election Made Sure.  It is having a perfect knowledge of God.  He quoted someone, I do not know who. "Those who know, don't talk, and those who don't know talk."

Debbie:  A father used to say to his children when they were young:—when you all reach the age of 12 I will tell you the secret of life,  On the day when the oldest turned 12 he anxiously asked his father what was the secret of life.  The father replied that he was going to tell him, but that he should not reveal it to his brothers.—The secret of life is this:  The cow does not give milk.  “What are you saying?” asked the boy incredulously—As you hear it son:  The cow does not give milk, you have to milk it.  You have to get up at 4 in the morning, go to the field, walk through the corral full of manure, tie the tail, hobble the legs of the cow, sit on the stool, place the bucket and do the work yourself.  That is the secret of life, the cow does not give milk.  You milk her or you don’t get milk.    There is this generation that thinks that cows GIVE milk.  That things are automatic and free:  their mentality is that if “I wish, I ask…I obtain.”  “The have been accustomed to get whatever they want the easy way…But no, life is not a matter of wishing, asking and obtaining.  The things that one receives are the effort of what one does.  Happiness is the result of effort.  Lack of effort creates frustration.”  So, share with your children from a young age the secret of life, so they don’t grow up with the mentality that the government, their parents, or their cute little faces is going to give them everything they need in life.  Remember: “Cows don’t give milk; you have to work for it.”  

During the Vietnam War, there was a great division among the people; some were for but many were against.  A reporter trying to trap President Harold B. Lee asked him, "What is your Church's stance on Vietnam"?  The reporter thought he had President Lee, he was dammed if he said we support the war and he would be dammed if he said we do not support the war.  Very similar to those who tried to trap Jesus with the question, "Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?" Luke 20:22 Like Christ's answer, give to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's.  President Lee answered, as a Church we are for peace, but we understand there are different types of peace.  The peace the Lord offered is not the peace of the world.
