Note: If faith is going to be faith, it has to be tested, and it has to be tried.  It has to enter the crucible of refinement or else you have a pretty cheap, even shoddy version of faith.  If faith is untested or untried, you do not know if it is faith at all.  Jeffery R. *Another thought for today:  When a worthy male is ordained to the priesthood, he is given authority to act for God here on the earth.   But having the authority is only the first step.  We are counseled to PRAY for the power to administer and bless.  The priesthood or authority may be conferred upon us, it is true, but the powers of heaven cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness.  I have or have had someone to always pray for power and direction, asking Heavenly Father to be upon me and the person being administered to.     

Moroni 3:1 The manner in which the disciples, who were called the elders of the church, ordained priests and teachers                                                    2 After they had prayed unto the Father in the name of Christ, they laid their hands upon them .....                

Mosiah 18:12 And now it came to pass that Alma took Helam, he being one of the first, and went and stood forth in the water, and cried, saying: O Lord, pour out thy Spirit upon thy servant, that he may do this work with holiness of heart.                                                                                 13 And when he had said these words, the Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he said: Helam, I baptize thee, having authority from the Almighty God, as a testimony that ye have entered into a covenant to serve him until you are dead as to the mortal body;.....

  D&C 121:36 ...the rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven, and that the powers of heaven cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness.              37 That they may be conferred upon us, it is true; but when we undertake to cover our sins, or to gratify our pride, our vain ambition, or to exercise control or dominion or compulsion upon the souls of the children of men, in any degree of unrighteousness, behold, the heavens withdraw themselves; the Spirit of the Lord is grieved; and when it is withdrawn, Amen to the priesthood or the authority of that man. 

I slept in this morning.  Debbie got up and cooked breakfast for everyone before Ryan took Libbie and her friend to their basketball games at UCCU.  When they got back Debbie followed Ryan to get his automobile checked at the dealer's service center.  Stephanie gave Drew a bath while I ate breakfast.  Debbie, Ryan, Stephanie, and Drew went to watch the basketball games.  I took the Doug Smith Subaru dealership to have the SUV serviced, the oil changed, new sparkplugs, the transmission flushed, and fresh lubricant in the front and rear differentials at almost 132,000 miles.  While I waited on the car to be serviced I read more in Day Star Rising by Elder Jeffery R. Holland.  I watched a movie on my computer, called, and talked to Dan to see how Ora was doing.  I tried to call, Elain, Matthew, Beth, Rae Lynn, and Michael.  There was no answer except for Michael who texted me that could not talk when I called.  Later Beth and Rae Lynn were together.  Beth, Ray Lynn, and Weston called me on their way home. They had been water skiing with the children.  I took all the garbage and recycles to the street to be picked up on Monday.  I  studied scriptures and later got dressed to attend the Saratoga Springs Temple open house.  Ryan, Stephanie, Libby, and Debbie got home.  At 8 PM and drove over to the Saratoga Springs Temple for our appointment at 8 PM.  There were 31 children and grandchildren who went through the Saratoga Springs Temple open house this evening.  At the end of the tour, we took pictures at the rear of the temple on the east, facing Provo Lake.  The Angel Moroni and Temple face west.  It is a beautiful temple and I am thankful to have a temple so near to our home. Debbie and I got back home, reviewed our calendar for the week, and had prayer together before going to bed.

15 Jul 2023, Saturday Prioritized Daily Task 9:30 AM - walk around the falls and Snake River in Idaho Falls and see Visitor's Center at the Temple Costco Pharmacy and pick up Debbie's medicine for her cough  On the Juel of the Sea, make a deposit with the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line for the British Isle Crusie from June 11 to June 23, 2024. 4:00 PM - Pocatello Temple Appointment (Proxy Sealing) with Debbie's aunt, Anita Schrade  6:00 PM - Dinner at Texas Road House Debbie and I had prayer, got dressed, and took Mirko and Ljubica to Idaho Falls.  We walked around the waterfall on both sides of the river and visited the farmer's market.  We all got Acai Bowls with fruit, nuts, and seeds for breakfast.  I took pictures of the island in the middle of the Snake River.  At one time it belonged to the Keefer Family and was named for Fred W.  20 Aug 2023, Sunday Priorit ized Daily Task Ryan and Stephanie Hobbs' 20th Wedding Anniversary I got up and had my personal prayer.  When Debbie got up we had prayer together.  I showered, shaved, and started to make reservations to go tomorrow evening to see a Shakespeare Festival play, TIMON OF ATHENS, at the Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theatre at the college in Cedar City.  Jody Jenkins, my mission president's daughter, was in charge of the Shakespeare Festival at the college before she retired.  I knew it was Sunday and something I should wait until tomorrow to do, so I did not complete the purchase.  I will check and see if I can get tickets tomorrow.  Debbie and Ljubica fixed breakfast and afterward, Bojana cleaned the kitchen.  We followed our neighbors to church this morning.  *Note: In the sacrament meeting, the text in one of the songs, Upon the Cross of Calvery, "death unlocks the passageway into eternity".  The text is...

 17 Feb 2023, Friday Priorit ized Daily Task Call Elbert Angel about Ora's land deed in Haralson County, GA abt 60 acres 4:00 PM - Appointment with Sam at Wells Fargo Bank to get Debbie on our estimated tax account *Note:  The story of young John Taylor, a convert to the church, was in NY City preparing for a mission to England in 1837.  He had been telling people he had all the money he needs; he is all set.  Parley P. Pratt was also in NY City on a different kind of mission, a publication mission, to get the word out here in NY.  He hears stories that John Taylor has money and I need all the help I can get, with printing cost,  paper, ink, and, to pay a typesetter, so he goes to John Taylor and asks him, “Do you have any money?”  Elder Taylor says, “Yes, I have plenty of money.”  Elder Pratt says, “Ah, good, can I have $2 or $3 hundred dollars to pursue the work I am called to do?”   Brother Taylor gets a big smile on his face and...
