Alexandra "Alex" McAlpin's 23rd birthday
Spencer Kimball's 47th Birthday (I sent Spencer and happy birthday text)
Michael and Matthew went to the gym to exercise this morning. Everyone else slept in. Debbie cooked a nice breakfast, eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. I showered and got ready for church at 12 Noon today. We attended sacrament meetings and then a combined Priesthood and Relief Society Meeting. The speaker was Sister Lisa Bearnson. She served as a supervisor at the Saratoga Springs Temple Open House. She told many interesting facts about the Temple and Open House. It is the first temple open house in seven years and the last to have an Angel Moroni on the top. The angel faces the west, not the east. It has bright and lively colors, not subdued. She told some personal stories of her experiences and opened it up to the members who served as ushers to share any experiences they had. Sister Bearnson told about a family who came with a daughter who would not make eye contact and only looked at the ground. She had her service dog with her. Instructions and direction came directly from the first presidency and quorum of the twelve that under no circumstances would any dogs be allowed in the temple. The family was insistent that their daughter and service dog be allowed to go on the tour. She could tell tensions were rising. She went outside and prayed. When she came back in she got down on her knees and looked up in the little girl's face. Lisa Bearnson told her that she was having a very stressful day and would she loan Opal, her dog, to her to help settle down? The little girl handed her the lease with her dog and her family and extended family went on the tour. The family and little girl enjoyed the tour and the spirit in the temple. The dog and Lisa got alone well. After church we came home and got ready for dinner and Alexandra "Alex" 23rd Birthday. Matthew came home and Michael met Alex after her church services. They went for a walk in the park and waterfalls. When they got here and cleaned up Debbie had dinner ready. Debbie cooked wild salmon and fried chicken legs. She made a salad, green beans, and corn on the cob. She had a type of french bread. After dinner and the kitchen was clean I went downstairs to the freezer and brought up the chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream between two cookies. We took pictures and afterward, Autumn and Grace called and stayed on the line while Alex opened her birthday cards and presents. Two of her presents came while we were in church. I brought the boxes when we got home. They had Debbie McAlpin's name on them. We opened them but there was no note or record as to who they were from. I thought Debbie Kimball sent them for mine and Debbie's 9th anniversary. I called and left a message thanking her. Later when Michael got home he cleared things up; Autumn sent them here for Alex's birthday today. I sent Debbie Kimball a text explaining the mistake and asking her to wish Spencer a happy birthday from me and Debbie. Alex has friends coming up to the cabin this evening and Michael is going up to meet them before coming back. Matthew took the Sebura and went to see Grant, his friend, and his family. Mirko, Ljubica, Debbie, and I watched some of the Chosen movie series. After the movie we had prayer. Later Debbie and I had prayer and went to bed. Matthew got home later.
