Prioritized Daily Task
I was up early and had prayer. I emailed Debbie and Brett for information Mike Robertson who works in Matt McCleary, CPA's, office needs to reply to the California Franchise Tax Board. I called Debbie and she found the information in my tax file in the office at the house. We had prayer together. Brett made a copy of his and Rae Lynn's Chase Bank records for 2020. He also printed the page for me to sign for CA Franchise Tax Dept. I signed and scanned Brett's records that show they paid the mortgage note on their 'Clovis home. I went with Brett to watch Westin play soccer game. He did well; he scored 5 goals but when asked, he scored 15. Later we went to Bordy's soccer game. Etan took an ACT entrance exam for college. I bought a straw hat today while we were out. Brett took Luke to his basketball practice. Ethan and Owen cleaned the house. When Rae Lynn got home she made sandwiches and chile for lunch. I played with Brody, Westin, and their friend, Dodge in the backyard. Later we watched part of the BYU and Texas Football college game. Ethan and Brooklyn and their friends came over for pictures. Ethan is 16 and is taking Brooklyn out this evening. They are going with their friends. Brett, Rae Lynn, and I went to Owen's football with 5th and 6th grades, game at Clovis West High School. Owen plays offense and defense. They won over a much larger team 24 to 0. So far they are undefeated. Rae Lynn took Owen to dinner to celebrate. Brett and I came home. I called and talked to Debbie. Mary Kay, Debbie's aunt, passed away a few weeks ago. Her husband Dan who had cancer passed away today. Debbie and I had prayer together. I had my personal prayer, studied scriptures, and read some in Rough Roling Stone before going to bed.
In time truth and light from God will swallow up Satan’s lies and darkness, so don’t be deceived; wait, watch, and be open to truth and light from God.
Joseph Smith never thought it was right to call up a man and try him because he erred in doctrine, it looks too much like Methodism and not like Latter-day Saintism. Methodists have creeds that a man must believe or be kicked out of their church. I want the liberty of believing as I please, it feels so good not to be trampled. It doesn’t prove that a man is not a good man, because he errs in doctrine. The 1835 edition of the Doctrine and Covenants suggested a desire by Joseph Smith for order to balance, the freeing impulse. The balance between freedom and control makes it difficult to keep Mormonism in focus. Was it authoritarian or anarchic, disciplined or unbounded? The printed word of God constituted a doctrinal authority that at the same time was open-ended, allowing visionary freedom to Joseph Smith’s successors after his death.
