Sacred Valley - In and out of Machu Picchu we rode along, I think, is the Rio Pacaymaro River that flows into the Urubamba River and into the Amazon River and into the Atlantic Ocean.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, an exciting day awaits you in Machu Picchu, one of the 7 wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Transfer to the village of Ollantaytambo to travel by train to Aguas Calientes* (Machu Picchu village) and enjoy the beautiful green mountain scenery along the way.
Once there, transfer by bus to the ancient Inca city of the Citadel for approximately a 2:30h visit which may take place in the morning or afternoon depending on availability. Enjoy the spectacular views of this Peruvian treasure built in the 15th century at an altitude of more than 2000 meters.
Return by bus to Aguas Calientes and, depending on the return train schedule, you will have free time to explore the town at your own pace. Travel by train back to Ollantaytambo, transfer to the hotel and overnight stay in Sacred Valley.
*The reservation includes a standard category train (Expedition train or Voyager train). You have the option to add a supplement to travel on a higher category train (360o train or Vistadome train) in the next step of the booking process.
Please note: In order to offer this tour, it is the passenger's responsibility to send us a copy of his/her passport at least 55 days in advance; otherwise, we cannot guarantee the visit to Machu Picchu (tickets are limited and subject to availability).
Upgrade to a Panoramic Train
Explore the landscape with panoramic windows and an open-air observatory car where you can enjoy all the beauty of the landscape. This upgrade can be either to the 360a Train or to the Vistadome, depending on availability.
Machu Picchu Citadel Guided Tour Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu, a true wonder of the world! Discover these ancient Inca ruins, perched high in the Andes, for a truly unforgettable experience!
On the way back to our hotel in Urubamba from Machu Picchu we went by Sky Lodge. To sleep at Skylodge, people must climb 400 mt. of Via Ferrata or hike an intrepid trail through ziplines
A via ferrata is a path used to climb a mountain with a safety system permanently installed. It gives the chance to people without any experience in climbing
